Summary

Cryolipolysis is a noninvasive procedure for reduction of local training and diet resistant subcutaneous fat pads through timely and spatial circumscribed controlled cooling. Patho physiologic active principle is the programmed cell death of adipocytes through cooling, the so called apoptosis. The evaluation of 505 treatments of 173 patients over a period of 24 months, confirmed the efficiancy of the method. Histologically, the developement of a histio-limphocytic inflammatory infiltrate with the migration of macrophages within the treatment zone, could be proven. As a method without downtime and with only slight side effects, cryolipolysis is especially suitable for patients, that want to avoid operative methods with higher side effects and that desire only moderate body forming.
