Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) has been the gold standard for many decades. Although it is a reliable procedure there has been growing demand for less invasive procedures. Therefore Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) has become more popular avoiding the large occipital scar. The problem with FUE has been the high transection rate (graph damage). The right punching angle, large punches, fatigue are major issues when scrutinising the quality of the procedure.
Robotic FUE hair transplantation has been developed to address exact these problems. An elaborate computer system calculates the correct punching angle and also choses the best and strongest graphs. The punch itself is only 10-19 gauge leaving absolutely no visible scar. Fatigue is no issue and up to 900 graphs can be retrieved in one hour. The robot company has implemented a strict documentation system to document and ensure the quality of the procedure.
We have performed 52 robotic procedures with no complications. The transection rate has constantly been below 5 %. Ongoing patient satisfaction is constantly documented.
Robotic hair transplantation eliminates the classical pitfalls of FUE allowing equally as good results as FUT without the large scar.
