Three-years experience with new method for penile augmentation is presented. The idea was to activate adipose derived stem cells (ADSC’s) using platelet derived growth factor (PDGF) from PRP.
Method: Thirty men underwent autologous fat combined with platelet riched plasma injection using four needle puncture sites into subcutaneous layer of penis in a three-dimensional fanning pattern. Average injected volumen was 66±12 ml (55 ml fat and 11 ml (20 %) PRP). Pretreatment and posttreatment penile volumes were derived from simple mathematic calculation. Follow-up ranged from 6 months to 3 years. In three patients additional fat transfer has done.
Results: Penile volume was unchanged between 6 months and one year. Graft survival was 45±12 percent. There were no haevy infections, fat necrosis, nodules, skin scarring and adhesions. Patient self-confidence and sexual function significantly increased.
Conclusion: The addition of PRP to autologous fat grafting leads to significantly larger penile augmentations, higher graft survival rates, and minimal graft necrosis or complications, demonstrating high safety and efficacy for the procedure.
